For over 65 years the La Stampa – Specchio dei tempi Foundation has given hope to those who suffer. And it does it every day in a practical and concrete way. We have 65 active projects in Turin, Italy and worldwide. We assist lonely elderly people, families in need, the sick, the homeless, children and populations affected by disasters. We are those of the schools after the earthquakes: from Emilia to Haiti, passing through Central Italy, we have rebuilt 26 in record time, after the most serious tragedies of the last thirty years. We are those of the Thirteenth Salary of Friendship: every Christmas, since 1976, we have been giving a cheque to over-65s forgotten by everyone. We are the ones who intervene immediately in emergencies, with few words and lots of facts. We are the ones who build when everything collapses.
After the flood of Piedmont we collected 25 billion lire, used for schools, bridges and economic aid. After the Tsunami we were close to the children of Asia with immediate interventions and a continuous presence: some initiatives continue today. For Coronavirus, we have been on the front lines since the start of the pandemic and have transformed over 10 million euros of donations into machinery for hospitals, tablets for schools, subsidies for businesses, and free shopping packages for the elderly and needy families. In the last year, we have helped over 40 thousand people, thanks to the readers of La Stampa and the generosity without borders that has its origins in the pages of the newspaper. With Specchio d’Italia we want to take this extraordinary wave of solidarity all across the country
